Regional Tournament on March 25, 2023

We are delighted to announce that Oakton High School will host the regions 9 and 12 combined tournament on March 25, 2023. Oakton hosted the tournament for 5 years and has just undergone a major renovation, so we are thrilled to be returning.

Reminder for October 15 Orientation

Reminder to all coordinators, coaches, potential coaches, and interested parents to come to an Orientation session for Odyssey of the Mind on October 15, at the Sully District Community rooms 8:30am to 12:45 pm.  The session will be divided into 2 parts:

-a general orientation to Odyssey of the Mind (explaining the program’s philosophy, rules/guidelines, and the three core elements of an in-person tournament: Long Term Problem, Style, and Spontaneous)
-a Spontaneous workshop (explaining the different kinds of spontaneous prompts and how to practice with your team)
Come for the entire program or Spontaneous only.

Coaches Orientation and Spontaneous Review on October 15:  Register by 8 October

—What: Coach Orientation/Spontaneous Review
—When: October 15, 0830-1245
—Where:  Sully District Community Rooms, 4900 Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly VA 20151
Details:

—New coaches and school coordinators are encouraged to attend orientation on 15 October from 0830-1245.  You will  get an overview of the program, pointers for getting your team started, and an introduction to resources to help you throughout the season.  You will also get an introduction to the Spontaneous Problem portion of the program.

—All coaches are invited to the Spontaneous Review on October 15 from 1115-1245.  New coaches will learn what Spontaneous is and returning coaches will get a refresher on the three kinds of Spontaneous problems teams should practice.
—There is no cost to attend but we ask you to register so that we have sufficient materials.
—Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start to sign-in and get seated.  We will start promptly at 0830 and 1115.
—Bring a snack and beverage; we will have a break from 1045-1115 to mingle and prepare for Spontaneous.
