2017 Spontaneous Kits

A new set of spontaneous problems is available for sale.  Each kit consists of instructions and materials for 20 different spontaneous problems, providing examples of the variety of problems that a team might encounter at a tournament.

Nine of these kits are still available at a cost of $20 each on a first-come-first-served basis.  If you are interested, contact the treasurer to arrange payment and pick-up.

T-shirt Contest, Coaches Training, and Spontaneous Kits

Once again we are looking for t-shirt designs for the regional tournament.  Anyone can enter!  Details are here.

Spontaneous kits will be again be available, with 20 new spontaneous problems and all needed supplies.  They will be sold at coaches training on a first-come-first-served basis; cost will be $20 (cash or check).  Any remaining kits will be available by contacting rd@novanorth.org.

Information sessions are being scheduled to help teams get going!  Here are the first three; follow the links for maps and other details.

STYLEWhat does it take to get the maximum score on the Style elements? Team members (with their coaches) are invited to an information session to hear what Style is all about, to get instructions on completing the “Style Form” and to ask questions about what makes a great style component.  Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 10, from 1:00 to 2:30 at the Chantilly Library, 4000 Stringfellow Rd, Chantilly, VA.

BALSA – Teams, coaches, and parents: Find out what teams should expect on a competition day; weigh-in room process; how to use the tester; review of the problem, plus Q&A from 1:00 to 3:00 on Sunday, December 3, at the Reston Library.

“A Stellar Hangout” – Teams, coaches, and parents are invited to attend an information session covering what teams should expect on a competition day; a review of the problem; and Q&A, from 12:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, December 2, at the Oakton Library.

School Coordinators Meeting

The 2017 – 2018 season is off to a start with a school coordinators informational meeting at the Dolley Madison Library meeting room on Wednesday, September 20, from 6:30-8:30 pm.  We will provide with an overview of the program and answer any questions.  This is open to all school coordinators as well as adults who are interested in starting an Odyssey of the Mind program.

While there is no official registration, we’d appreciate it if you could contact our School Coordinator Liaison to let us know if you can make it. If you are interested in attending, but can’t make this session, let us know that as well and we’ll see what we can do to accommodate you.
